Postgraduate

The University of Sydney Union recognises the valuable contribution made by members of the Post Graduate community to the ethos of the University. Furthermore the USU appreciates that more can be done to improve the University experience of this important cohort.

To this end the role of the Post Graduate Convenor has been developed on order that the relation between the USU and the post graduates of all varieties might be explored and improved.

Specific Responsibilities:

 - In consultation with staff, members of the SPAC Committee, the Programs Department  and other relevant groups, develop a relevant program of “student experience building” events and services.

 - Work actively as a conduit between the USU and post graduates to ensure that post graduate views and opinions are heard.

- To keep in regular contact and consult with staff and the Postgraduate Forum/Committee on the proposed program.

Postgraduate Survey

USU Director of Student Programs, Alistair Cowie with winner of the $500 petrol voucher, Monique Hines
Congratulations to Monique Hines, winner of the $500 Coles/Shell petrol voucher for taking part in the Postgraduate Survey.

Monique (pictured left with USU Director of Student Programs, Alistair Cowie) is studying Speech Pathology - Health Sciences, and was the lucky entry from more than 1000 responses to the survey. Thankyou to everyone who took part.

Postgraduate Events

In 2008, the Postgraduate convenor, John Nowakowski, ran a number of events in conjunction with CONNECT, the postgraduate student conference, including a drinks evening and BBQ. The drinks evening, following a presentation by the Vice-Chancellor Michael Spence, allowed for the delegates to unwind and network, which works well when dealing with this student body.
